Voom is a curved sculptural form with a nod to classic Australian design.

Soft curves, opposing textures and a hint of Australian nostalgia emerge as subtle considerations in the latest robust design collaboration from Industrial Designer, Adam Goodrum and Australian design company, Tait.

Unique both in design and materials, the Voom Collection has been created to withstand harsh Australian conditions while providing opportunity for seamless reconfigurations for different functions and occasions. It is a fusion of soft form, versatility and modularity, with the highest quality manufacturing processes considered from end to end to create tactile and lasting pieces.

“The versatility and modularity of Voom is a departure from existing collections within the Tait range,” said Goodrum. “With pieces designed to stand alone as a single armchair, and multiples creating different lengths and arrangements to suit diverse outdoor spaces.

It is with ambition that Goodrum embraced nostalgia in the creation of the Voom Collection, embarking on a design process that saw inspiration from the sculptural work of Alexander Calder, where raw sheet metal objects are placed to enhance public spaces.

Material selection was of great importance in the process of creating the elegant and bold Voom Collection, with Tait Creative Director and co-founder, Susan Tait, opting to exclusively partner with Mokum to use their new dimensional Sole Boucle and Elba fabric designs to form the collection.

“Mokum’s Sole Boucle and Elba fabrics bring luxurious texture indoor and outdoor, with their hues reflecting the vast Australian landscape,” said Susan. “This is how we envisioned the design, selected to complement the round, voluminous and gentle curves of this versatile and elegant collection.”

Gordon Tait, Founding Director of Tait, added,

“The Voom collection transcends indoor-outdoor living. It’s quite retro. It’s like it’s had a past life. A modern classic.”

Available in Tait’s distinctively Australian colour palettes, the Voom Collection is once again underpinned by Tait’s commitment to sustainability, evident in the materials used to create the range and Tait’s local manufacturing principles. The Voom Collection can be placed in many configurations, with groupings of loungers and ottomans creating new sofa and sunlounge forms.
