New Scandi Design Perspectives With MUUTO

Muuto 2024

Muuto at Designcraft

Designcraft have an expanded range from MUUTO that is available to our collection now. With the brand name coming from the Finnish word, muutos, meaning new perspective, the creatives behind MUUTO's collection embrace the essence of Scandinavian design yet making a contemporary take on tradition, exploring a forward thinking approach to natural materials, comfort, craftsmanship and durability.

Muuto searches for designers who share this same mindset. Creatives with a contemporary take on tradition, who embrace the essence of Scandinavian design. Who are keen on exploring a forward-thinking approach to natural materials, comfort, craftsmanship and durability. Individuals who bring a fresh set of eyes to creating something new, as well as new ways of reimagining something old.

Muuto's collective of designers includes Scandinavian's best like Anderssen & Voll, Benjamin Hubert, Cecilie Manz, David Geckeler, Earnest Studio, Iskos-Berlin, Julien De Smedit, Sylvain Willenz and more recently, half a world away, Australia's Rhys Cooper.

From homes, offices, hospitality, education spaces and beyond, both inside and out, plus lighting, storage and accessories, you'll find a MUUTO piece that will feel 'just right' in every space you design.

Muuto Talk 2024

Understanding Neuroaesthetics with Jae Hah of Muuto

It was a pleasure hosting Ms Jae Hah, Director APMEA at Muuto DK, and David Mansfield, Regional Sales Manager in Australia and New Zealand, for an industry event on Tuesday, 6th February, at our showroom. Judging from the numerous feedback we've received, we are so happy that the response from Jae's talk on Neuroscience of Interiors has resonated so well with our design community.

Muuto is definitely in the forefront of integrating their design principles with scientific results to create and manufacture products that will make "a space that feels just right".

Our industry guests had a great night, catching up with everyone in the design field and community here in Canberra, and getting a proper introduction to Muuto through Jae's talk. All of us had a better and new perspective of Scandinavian design brand, Muuto.

"Before we introduce a new Muuto design,
we want to be sure that it adds a new perspective,
building on a strong heritage but in a moderncontext -
somehow improving or challenging what has been made before."

As shown during the talk, A Space for Being, the Google Hardware Design Studio built a 6,000 square foot installation in Milan for Salone del Mobile based on the concepts of neuroaesthetics. The exhibit back in 2019 was created in partnership with Reddymade Architecture, the International Arts + Mind Lab at Johns Hopkins University, and Muuto Furniture Design.

"Surrounding ourselves with beauty and an environment
that positively affects our mental state is essential.
Most of us in developed world spend
90% of our time indoors and in urban space.
There's no other single factor that
affects us for that much of our time."

Anjan Chatterjee, Professor of Neurology

Muuto's Professionals Toolbox site is a great space to get all the information required to further assist you in creating and achieving the balance of Form, Colour, Tactility, Light and Nature that influence the neuroaesthetics of the space. A great example shown is the home of Melbourne photographer Eve Wilson. Perfection!
