40/4 is available as a barstool version. The seat and back is narrower and the seating position more leaned back for optimal comfort. The barstool version is available in veneer, polymide and upholstery finish.

Designed originally as a side chair by David Rowland in 1964 is considered as the first true stacking chair. Through the years David Rowland designed other versions of the chair in order to provide a chair for almost any application, and at the same time keeping a uniform design language across the applications.
